The foundation monograph approach has been development by the University of Oxford in conjunction with the Natural History Museum, London, the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew and the Royal Botanic Gardens, Edinburgh, as a novel methodology for overhauling the taxonomy of species-rich, taxonomically neglected groups of plants in a short time frame.
